Purchasing Questions

Q: How long have you been in business?
A: Diversified has been programming both applications and web sites since 1992, making us one of the oldest programming companies in the United States.

Q: How long does it take for my software to be installed once I buy?
A: If you've purchased installation support, we can usually perform the install that same day. If not, we will send you a zip file containing a PDF manual the same day and will mail you a paper manual and CD copy of the software the following day.

Q: I hate technical manuals! Is there a better way to learn the software?
A: Our manual is very easy to read but it is generally used as a reference manual for future questions. To initially learn the software, you can watch the video walkthroughs for each product right here online by clicking Products, choosing the product, then clicking Video Tour on the right. They are long videos so be patient. You can also use some of your tech support time and one of our programmers will walk you through the software in as much detail as you wish.

Installation Related Questions

Q: What are the server requirements for the software?
A: The server must have Cold Fusion installed and must have the CFFILE option turned 'On'. The software also requires Microsoft SQL Server. They can be installed on one dedicated server or separately to load balance more effectively.

Q: How many hits can the software handle?
A: This variable is really based on the server hardware. The RatingsLink software can handle as many hits as the server can send and process. On a dedicated server with the average CPU and Memory installed, we have tested the software to handle over 12 million hits in a 24 hour period. The email server is just as important with regards to capabilities since the software will throw blocks of 50 emails at it every 5 seconds whenever you send an email blast or if you have the Storm Closing listener notification option turned on.

Q: What if I don't know anything about HTML?
A: We can help you get started by installing the program for you, setting up all of the necessary colors, fonts, emails, and placing the Ratingslink software into your existing web site design. We perform this at a nominal fee of $200, as a courtesy to our new clients.

Q: Why doesn't the email form show up on my computer?
A: The emailer tags that we currently use are supported on most browsers but do not seem to work on Mozilla Firefox and some older browsers. We recommend using Internet Explorer for email functions.

Q: How do I put the program into my web site's design template?
A: Simply paste the HTML header and navigation portion of your site into the /members/pagetop.cfm file and the footer into the /members/pagebottom.cfm file. If you don't know where to cut the header and footer, we suggest that you create a new page with the design template and NO additional text in the body area. Then, in the body, type CUT HERE. When you open that new page in an HTML viewer, everything above CUT HERE should go into pagetop.cfm and everything below it should go into pagebottom.cfm.

Q: The program does not load the Administrative Main Menu, whats wrong?
A: The program will automatically shut down a module if the yearly license fees are overdue but this problem is more often associated with a change on your server. In order to maintain the application's high level of security, serial numbers are issued for each domain name and each domain name prefix (most commonly www). If you are using a domain name that we have not issued a serial number for OR if you are using a different domain name prefix (like ww2 for load balancing) the main menu will not appear because the program does not find a valid license. Try pointing to your primary domain name and be sure to include the www. You can always request new serial numbers if your servers or domain names change. As long as it is within the same installation, this service is free of charge.

Q: Is the software easy to use?
A: The software is so easy that when we used to offer in-person training sessions for radio stations, they were generally over in a few minutes. The entire program is point-and-click and requires no HTML skill at all.

Licensing & Technical Support Questions

Q: How do I renew, change, or add to my license?
A: Simply contact us and we will make the changes for you. We will let you know in advance if any additional fees will be incurred.

Q: Everything is installed but I have questions about the program?
A: We suggest that you purchase a 5-hour block of technical support time from us for $450. This entitles you and any other authorized callers to call and ask us any questions about the software, web site, security, etc. without worrying about a surprise bill. We are generous with our support time and always round time down to give you the maximum value for your call. Also, if your question turns out to be a problem with our software, no time will be taken from your allotted hours.

Q: When I contact technical support, how long before they get back to me?
A: We normally respond within a few minutes during regular business hours. In off-time, responses could take a few hours. If you have an emergency and need immediate support, we suggest that you use the Diversified Support Form which will notify the programmers via cellular, then go ahead and call us at our Rochester office. Make sure that when you send the form via divprogram.com, that you include as many details as possible (the page name, what happened just before the problem, the best way to get back to you, etc.)
